CONCORD, N.C. -- Danica Patrick emerged unscathed from a caution-filled Bank of America 500 Sunday at Charlotte Motor Speedway to record an 11th-place finish -- her best this season.I was really hoping wed end up getting a top 10, but [Jamie] McMurray got us on the last lap, so we ended up 11th, Patrick said shortly after the 334-lap races conclusion. Well take it and try to keep building over the last few races to put ourselves in a better position for next season.Patricks best finish this year prior to Sunday was 13th at Dover in May. She now possesses four top-15 finishes this season. She has produced at least one top-10 finish every year since joining the Sprint Cup Series full time in 2013 and still stands a good chance of hitting that mark this season. Of the six tracks remaining on this years schedule, she has recorded top-10 finishes at two of them: Kansas and Martinsville, Virginia.Patrick qualified 13th for the Charlotte race that was postponed from Saturday night to Sunday afternoon due to heavy rain from Hurricane Matthew. She ran in the top 20 for most of the event, which had eight caution flags for 51 laps and a 10-minute, 48-second red flag for a 12-car wreck. No one was injured in the multi-car incident. The 34-year-old Patrick noted her Chevrolet was loose for most of the race, but her team, headed by crew chief Billy Scott, made adjustments in the early going to get us in solid position for the second half. With 18 laps remaining, Patrick was eighth. Thirteen laps later she was 10th, one position behind teammate Tony Stewart. She maintained the top-10 spot until the final lap, when McMurray passed her on the 1.5-mile track. Six-time NASCAR champion Jimmie Johnson won the event, breaking a 24-race winless streak. We had a mistake on pit road late in the race and lost some ground when I overshot the pit stall, but the guys quickly recovered and we ended up only losing a couple of spots, Patrick said. The car got a little tight, but they took some wedge back out and it was pretty good there at the end.Patricks pit stall was immediately in front of teammate Kurt Buschs and since both remained on the lead lap for most of the event, it could have contributed to her pit road miscue. She was on the lead lap and kept coming around us and it boxed us in, said Busch, who finished eighth. We dont need that, but we werent the ones penalized. They were the ones penalized on their pit position.Patrick and her Stewart-Haas Racing team now head to Kansas for the Oct. 16 Hollywood Casino 400.Derek Carr Youth Jersey .
