GUELPH, Ont. -- Raymond Brown couldnt have picked a better time to register his first three-pick game. The rookie had three interceptions, returning one 115 yards for the touchdown, as the Hamilton Tiger-Cats pasted the Winnipeg Blue Bombers 52-0 in the final CFL exhibition game for both clubs. Brown, a defensive back from Kansas, picked off Justin Goltz in the end zone and returned it for the TD on the final play of the second quarter to give Hamilton a commanding 35-0 half-time lead. "One of the biggest job interviews of my life but its football and you let the cards fall where they may," he said. "You cant think about that but I hope I did (make a statement). "I saw him (Goltz) come to the side and there was only one receiver that way, I just glided over. I know he didnt see me and he threw it to me. The coaches have to make a tough decision and I respect them for whatever decision they make." Brown wasnt the only Ticats rookie to shine. Running back Lindsey Lamar returned a punt 76 yards for a touchdown while safety Erik Harris had an interception and fumble recovery and receiver Greg Ellingson had two catches for 88 yards -- including a 58-yard TD grab. Lamar took Mike Renauds 46-yard punt the distance on the final play of the first quarter to put Hamilton ahead 14-0. With receiver-returner Chris Williams continuing his contract dispute, the Ticats could be in the market for a special-teams dynamo. "I feel like Ive done everything I can," Lamar said. "I came, I showed up, I did everything the coaches asked me to do, I put my head down and worked hard. "Its out of my control now, its in Gods hands." CFL teams must reduce their rosters to 46 players by 10 p.m. ET on Saturday. "We have some players and thats a good thing," said Ticats head coach/GM Kent Austin. "We understand theres some tough decisions that have to be made and thats unfortunate but were going to have to make them as a staff." The first-year players shone in Hamiltons first "home" game at Alumni Stadium on a simply gorgeous evening. The facility on the campus of the University of Guelph will be the Ticats home away from home this season while a new venue is being built. The usual seating capacity here is roughly 7,500 but has been increased to 13,000 for Ticats games. The announced attendance for Thursdays game was 12,732. Although the game was Hamiltons first at Alumni Stadium, Ticats starter Henry Burris said the club is settled in. "This is already home and we look forward to getting here and testing out the new locker-room," Burris said. "Were so happy to be here and to be able to play in this atmosphere, were excited about it." The Ticats will move into their new stadium next season. The facility will also stage the soccer competition for the 2015 Pan American Games. Hamilton finished the exhibition season with a 2-0 record while Winnipeg was 0-2. The two clubs were tied for the CFLs worst record last year at 6-12. Chevon Walker, Andy Fantuz and Harold Mutobola had Hamiltons other touchdowns. Luca Congi booted the converts and three field goals while Brett Lauther had a single. Winnipeg kicks off the 2013 regular season Thursday hosting the Montreal Alouettes at new Investors Group Field. Hamilton travels to Toronto next Friday night to face the Grey Cup-champion Argonauts at Rogers Centre. The two teams took different approaches to this contest as Winnipeg came with just 41 players while Hamilton dressed 64. Among the notable Bombers missing was starting quarterback Buck Pierce, who didnt make the trip after going 0-for-5 passing in the clubs first exhibition game, a 24-6 home loss to Toronto last week. Goltz got the start and completed 12-of-21 passes for 101 yards and two interceptions as Winnipeg didnt get over centre field until just over two minutes were left in the opening half. Chase Clement, who left Hamiltons camp in 2009 after just a single practice, and Max Hall took second-half snaps for the Bombers, who committed nine turnovers (six interceptions, two fumbles, downs). It was a miserable pre-season for Winnipeg, which was outscored 76-6 in the two games and could only muster two field goals. "The Little Sisters of the Poor wouldve beaten us," Bombers head coach Tim Burke said. "Usually when you turn the ball over three times youre going to lose so when you do it nine times I guess it equals three losses." Burris started for Hamilton and looked solid, completing 13-of-17 passes for 198 yards and two TDs in the opening half before giving way to sophomore Dan LeFevour to start the third. Walker opened the scoring with a one-yard TD run at 7:43 of the first, which was set up by Harriss interception. Then at 11:55 of the second, Burris found Fantuz on a five-yard touchdown strike before hitting Ellingson at 13:48 to put Hamilton ahead 28-0. Congi booted three field goals in the third before Mutubola ran 37 yards for a TD at 9:49 of the fourth. He took a lateral from Emanuel Davis after he had an 23-yard interception return.China Jerseys Stitched . The ECB has restructured Durham as a community interest company, which enables it to distribute up to 35% of profits - should they become available - to shareholders. The council has received interest payments of around £700,000 on their loans since 2009 - variously charging 4.7% and 7% annually on the loans. The councils own calculations state that with interest rates at record lows they would only have made £140,000 interest in the same period by conventional investments. The agreement follows the ECBs own £3.8m rescue package, which included writing off nearly £2m of its own loans to the county. That bailout came with punitive measures: the sacking of the Durham board, relegation from Division One of the Championship and penalty points in all three competitions at the start of next season. But Durham can stage ODIs and T20Is and it is here, combined with stringent cost cutting and a growth in their mediocre T20 attendances, where it is hoped future profitability lies. The terms of the ECB rescue package were enforced by the ECB after Durhams long-standing failures to attract investment into the club brought their financial problems to a head this year. Payments to service debt interest were running at nearly £1m a year. The ECB told the council that only one party - unnamed - had showed interest, but the approach was rejected because of their fit and proper person guidelines, which are designed to prevent clubs being bled dry by investors without its best interests at heart.Council representatives were told if they also failed to agree to the rescue there was a significant risk that the club would enter administration, leaving the bulk of their loan lost. Durham County Council already owns the land the clubs Riverside ground is built on, and leases it to the club.A cursory Durham statement said: The clubs difficult financial position was brought to a head earlier in the year by the unexpected calling in of a long term loan and the challenge of securing, in time, private development investment. The club is pleased that this has been achieved without the need ffor significant public debt write off as has been the case elsewhere in cricket.ddddddddddddDurhams secrecy has long been illustrated by their refusal to reveal the identity of two long-term financial backers in the Middle East who are no longer involved with the club.Durham County Council has shown rather more detailed commitment to local democracy than the cricket club it has now helped to save.A council report available here states: DCCC had hoped that commercial and residential developments on the site could have provided much needed financial security but it was unlikely that these benefits could be realised quickly enough.Over the last three years the council has worked with DCCC to significantly reduce their costs with circa £1million in costs taken out of the business - mainly from a significant reduction on player costs.Similarly, the council has worked closely with the club to drive forward commercial development of the site including a hotel and conference centre which would help derive additional income for the club.Without additional financial support from the ECB via an all creditor agreement and a restructuring of loans or a significant injection of capital from an alternate source, the club could not continue to run on a solvent basis and across the summer appointed an insolvency practitioner to advise the Board on options available to it.The appointed insolvency practitioner (RSM UK) undertook soft market testing to gauge interest in purchasing the club across the summer, although they were unable to find suitable buyers. There has been less support so far in writing off or converting debts into equity from other creditors. Both CR Financial Solutions, a London-based company which focuses on real estate, bought out Durhams outstanding bank debt of £788,000, and the North East Local Enterprise Partnership, is owed £771,000. Both have been unresponsive. The clubs outgoing directors depart with collective debts of £415,000 still owed to them. The ECB is expected to take on the bank debt from CR Financial Solutions, so protecting the future of the ground, and further increasing its own indebtedness. It has already agreed to write off nearly £2m of loans and, as part of the deal, has withdrawn Durhams Test match status, a convenient solution to the recognition that the dash for growth over the past decade or so has left more grounds seeking Test fixtures than are sustainable.
